"The Bernkasteler Lay Riesling Kabinett 2013 presents itself in a pale lemon-yellow color and exudes frank aromas of fresh grapes, yellow melon and some hints of exotic fruit. The wine is very aromatic and greedy. Nice salinity on the finish." (Wine Advocate 2015 - Robert Parker). Bernkasteler Lay is a terroir classified as VDP Grosse Lage - the equivalent of a Grand Cru in Germany. As for "Kabinett", this is the lightest, most delicate style for a German Riesling. A wonderful discovery!

About the wine:

A hint of caramel adds sweetness to the yellow melon and tangerine aromas of this taut wine. Semi-dry in style, it nonetheless has high acidity and a sweet kiss of stone fruit to brighten the long finish.

A disappointing wine. A lot of gas and a sweet side to very ordinary aromas.
