Notes : Robert Parker 89/100, Bourgogne Aujourd'hui 17/20, Gault Millau 16,5/20, RVF 15/20, Bettane & Desseauve 15/20 (Bonheur tout de suite)
"Licorice, cherry, blackberry, black tea and notes of resin from the old barrel in which it was aged, and a persistent mouthfeel for this Morgon Domaine de la Chanaise 2011, very well vinified. A lovely grain of tannin, a very well-integrated slightly pheasant-like note, mineral nuances and soft berry juiciness. Should be enjoyable through 2015 and beyond". (Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

Food and wine pairing

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Fresh fruit, elegant, concentrated length, delicious, well-balanced, an accessible Morgon in its style.
About the domain :
A leading figure in Beaujolais in general and Morgon in particular, Dominique Piron, now joined by his partner Julien Révillon, is developing a solid range of Beaujolais crus. Over 100 hectares, seven crus are represented, with a logical majority of Morgons. With a refined style and expressive nose, while retaining the stylistic signature of their origins, the domaine's wines are all successful.
Guide Hachette des vins
Domaine noté (guide 2023) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
Heir to 14 generations of winegrowers, Dominique Piron handed over the reins of the family estate in 2020 to Julien Revillon, his partner since 2013. The latter is now in charge of some 50 hectares of vines, divided between his own vineyards and grape purchases for the négoce.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Wine rated (2012 guide) 16.5/20 (Very good)
About the wine:
The nose of this generous Morgon is reminiscent of ripe red fruit, supported by spicy notes. The clean attack gives way to a full, warm mouth with a subtle blend of fruit and freshness. Good length.

RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Wine rated (2014 guide) 15/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)
About the wine:
The morgons are also very well crafted.
About the domain :
Julien Revillon, aided by his talented oenologist Pierre Meunier, continues Dominique Piron's work with consistency and brio. The duo is aided by vineyard manager Thibaud Lemaître, which has become necessary to oversee a 90-hectare estate. Their joint efforts have improved the quality of the grapes, and the parcel-by-parcel selection process is beginning to bear fruit. We've been won over by the consistency of the range and its cornerstones: spontaneity of fruit, delicacy and precise definition of each cru.
