Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2020 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Domain rated (2022 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Elegant fruit, very pure on the palate, but the minerality is not yet in place, and the finish dries out nicely. However, it does not offer the density of sap of the old vines.
About the domain :
We've been following this domaine for some time now, and are delighted with the seriousness and steady progress of Charly Nicolle. Exploiting the terroirs of Fleys, including the two premiers crus Les Fourneaux and the easternmost part of Mont de Milieu, he extracts a short range with great density on the palate, bringing out the minerality of each cru. A sure bet for the sector.

About the wine:
A pleasant minerality emerges on the nose, while the palate is more round with ripe citrus flavors.
About the domain :
Charly Nicolle's great-grandparents already cultivated vines. Following in the footsteps of previous generations, the young winemaker set off on his own adventure. Settled in Fleys, to the east of Chablis, he created his own domaine in 2011, nurturing his 17 ha of Chardonnay, and has established himself as an established name in Chablis. He also runs the family domaine of La Mandelière.
