Tenuta Il Poggione
A truly historic estate, Il Poggione began producing Brunello di Montalcino wine in the 1900s, making it one of the first estates to market it. More than a century later, the new generation of Franceshi family members work the vines with as much respect for nature and as much dedication as Loic Franceshi before them.

Il Poggione
is located in the village of Montalcino in the heart of Tuscany, between 150 and 450 meters above sea level, and the climate between sea and mountains allows for the production of long-keeping wines. 530 hectares of land make up Il Poggionedistributed between vineyards, olive groves and forests. Il Poggione works the vines in a reasoned and sustainable way, limiting the use of chemicals, planting different crops alongside the vines, and using solar panel technology installed on the roof of its winery.

This love of nature, the precision of their techniques, and their attentiveness to their terroir, propel Il Poggione into the top tier of Tuscany's Brunello di Montalcino .

"A great Tuscan 100% Sangiovese, acclaimed by the press and customers alike!"

"Impressive from the first approach to the glass, the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino stands out with a bewitching explosion of exotic spices and crushed ashy stone, giving way to dried black cherries and roasted herbs. This wine combines the energy of the vintage with the balsamic-tinged dark fruits of Montalcino's southern reaches, while zesty acidity maintains balance throughout and flinty minerals arrive towards the end of the tasting. The finish is long, savory and structured, but the tannins are rounder than expected, giving an impression of classicism, but also leaving a sense of appetite that keeps the taster coming back to the glass for more. Easily one of the best wines of the vintage, the 2018 is not to be missed." (Vinous 2022)

"Nose of sliced apples, ripe apricots, peaches and melon. Fruity and relaxed, with medium body and an easy finish. Drink now. Screw cap." (James Suckling 2023). This Tuscan shows a fine balance between the freshness and vivacity of the Vermentino and the structure of the Chardonnay. A salivating cuvée, thanks to the aromatic palette provided by the marriage of these two grape varieties!
