"A new edition from this domaine, the 2018 Cairanne comes entirely from hillside plots and is composed of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah. It has a terrific profile, full-bodied and seductive, as well as many aromas and flavors of blue and black fruits, licorice and bouquet garni. It's a pure, balanced wine, and a very interesting barrel sample." (Jeb Dunnuck)

Rated (2020 guide) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)

About the wine:
A blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, Michel & Tina Gassier's 2018 Cairanne offers a ruffling array of dried herbs - mint, bay leaf and rosemary - and tart red berries. It's medium-bodied, silky and expressive, with that lovely texture that carries through to the slightly tannic finish. It should drink well for 4-5 years.

Domain Noted Selected (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the domains that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
With a great deal of pragmatism and sound principles, Michel Gassier restructured the vineyard and gave himself the means to produce white and red wines. The prestige cuvées named Joseph Torrès express themselves fully after one to three years in bottle, while the other wines can be enjoyed from their earliest youth.

The Domain GASSIER offers a lovely Cairanne with a full, ample character, but with tannins so fine and velvety, that it reveals great depth and density of pure, juicy red and black fruit. The minority complement of Syrah brings pleasant flavors of spices, underlined by black pepper, licorice and violet notes that provide extraordinary freshness and lightness on the finish. Like the domaine's other cuvées, this Cairanne is also attractively priced. After decanting, match with matured Simmental rib steak, home fries in duck fat.
