Domaine de la Ville Rouge
Located in Mercurol, in the heart of the Crozess-Hermitage appellation, the Domaine de la Ville Rouge covers 18 hectares of vines. These are spread over 3 appellations: Crozes-Hermitage (red and white), Saint-Joseph (red and white) and IGP de la Drôme (red, white and rosé).

The vineyards of Domaine de la Ville Rouge are farmed organically, certified since 2012. Biodynamic methods are also used and are in the process of being certified. Manual work in the vineyard and low yields (35 hL/ha) bring out the characteristics of the terroirs that are so dear to the growers.

The predominant grape variety at Domaine de la Ville Rouge is Syrah. Roussane and Marsanne are also grown to produce white wines.

"A 12-month barrel ageing period has enhanced this red with toasty, spicy notes, adding a racy touch to the bouquet of ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberry). Ample, full-bodied and well-structured, the palate loses none of its elegance, stretching out to a fresh, flavorful touch of Zan". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

"A racy Syrah

Selected from the best barrels of old Syrah vines over 40 years old, Cuvée Paul reflects even more of the appeal of its terroir, even "wilder" and sunnier. Hints of vanilla, licorice and dry earth lead to a palate of ripe plums, both velvety and full-bodied. Benefiting from a longer maceration, this cuvée de Vieilles Vignes perfectly expresses the richness of a racy Syrah.

"Freshness and summer fruit

"Briefly aged in vat and barrel, this wine opens with delicate notes of fresh almond, which are echoed in a tonic, chiselled palate that lets the white fruit speak for itself on the finish. A dynamic Crozes, remarkable for its freshness and balance, which has managed to overcome the heat of the vintage". (Guide Hachette des Vins 2021)

"Aged mostly in stainless steel tanks, Crozes-Hermitage Inspiration 2016 offers notes of asphalt and licorice-spiced plum. It's medium-bodied and fully ripe, developing supple tannins on the mid-palate. Peppery spices emerge on the finish." (Wine Advocate 2017 - Robert Parker)
