Domaine de Rancy
Created in the 1920s, the Domaine de Rancy produced a range of vins doux naturels, dry reds and rosés. With the arrival of Marcel Verdaguer in 1970, the domaine reoriented its production and chose to concentrate exclusively on the production of Rivesaltes. It wasn't until 2001 that the next generation decided to take over the production of dry red wines, and withdrew from the cooperative winery to produce terroir wines.

Domaine de Rancy is located in the Agly Valley, on a terroir renowned for its brown schist. The vineyard, certified organic since 2011, is planted with local grape varieties: Macabeu, Grenache blanc and gris for the whites, Carignan, Mourvèdre and Grenache noir for the reds. These vines are 50 years old on average (except for the Mourvèdre), resulting in low yields.

Domaine de Rancy wines are produced under the Rivesaltes appellation for natural sweet wines, and IGP Côtes Catalanes and Côtes du Roussillon Villages for dry wines and rancios.

"Born on the Latour schists from a trio of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Carignan, this wine reveals intense aromas of red and black fruits and garrigue. A fresh, lively, peppery attack opens onto a powerful, warm and deep palate, with firm yet fine-grained tannins". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2019)

"Gourmandise and generosity

This 100% Grenache noir impresses with its aromatic complexity. On the nose, notes of crushed red fruit, spices and a hint of smoke emerge from the glass. The palate continues with fine, silky tannins that delicately coat the flavors of the nose. Despite a generous alcohol content, the wine remains highly digestible and delicate. This cuvée is an invitation to indulge!

"The Verdaguer family, "macabeu fanatics", show that they also have talent for red wines, under the guidance of their daughter Delphine, nologue. Here, an admirable half-grenache, half-mourvèdre cuvée. The color is limpid, with violet highlights. The complex nose combines the wildness of mourvèdre with notes of stewed red fruit, garrigue and spices, pepper in particular. Aromas of tapenade, black fruit, garrigue and pencil lead accompany a perfectly balanced palate, full-bodied, round and very fresh, underpinned by firm, high-quality tannins". (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2016)
