Jean-Paul and Charly Thévenet
For four generations, the Thévenet family has been established in Villié-Morgon, in the heart of the Beaujolais vineyards. After training with Marcel Lapierre, among others, Charly returned to the family domaine in 2003, before setting up his own estate in Régnié.

Since 2007, Charly Thévenet, the latest in the line, has vinified a Régnié appellation cuvée under his own name, Grain et Granit. As on the family estate, where his father Jean-Paul Thévenet continues to promote "natural" wines, the Régnié vines are grown organically, without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. From this remarkable viticultural heritage - the oldest Gamay vines are 70 years old - the terroirs are granitic with very little soil, and the roots quickly reach the bedrock, giving the wine a framework of minerality. The young winemaker harvests healthy, ripe grapes. In the cellar, vinification is carried out simply, with traditional carbonic fermentation using natural yeasts. Neither fined nor filtered, the wines receive only a minimal dose of sulfur. When young, Domaine Charly Thévenet's Beaujolais offer the characteristic fruity notes of Gamay; with age, they take on nuances of flowers, spices... These wines have excellent ageing potential.

Since 2021, Charly has launched new cuvées: a Régnié "En Voiture Simone", a white Beaujolais "Terrain Rouge" and, above all, has joined forces with his father Jean-Paul Thévenet's domaine in Morgon. With the latter's retirement, it's now Charly who, under his father's watchful eye, manages the 7 ha of vines. He is now directing the cuvées towards a lighter style, while retaining the wines' distinctive character. The result is fine, elegant wines that reflect the terroir.

Son of Jean-Paul Thévenet, Charly became an outstanding winemaker when he set up his own estate in Régnié in 2007. Following in his family's footsteps, he creates exemplary cuvées for our enjoyment, offering here a satiny Régnié with an elegant, fine profile. His work in biodynamic viticulture, respectful of the terroir, takes on its full meaning in this Régnié roi, which touches us with its intense, pure fruitiness. A choice cuvée, far from the usual, to surprise and delight at the table.
