Hachette

" A specialist in Malbec, which it has helped to bring back into fashion, this estate has produced a very interesting 2012 version. A wine rich in youthful aromas (stone, morello cherry, black berries, toasty wood), ample, suave and full-bodied on the palate, backed by firm, powerful tannins, stretched out in a long, tasty finish. Domain rated (guide 2021) Selected (A winery or house that has won us over with one or more wines from its production, without us being able to give a general opinion on the style of the entire range)

About the domain :

The estate was indeed a coaching inn in the 18th century, but it's only since the beginning of this millennium that it's been making a name for itself in the wine world. Followed by today's specialist in accessible Bordeaux, Olivier Dauga, the vineyard produces fruity, gourmet Côtes de Bourg without any rusticity. This cuvée is made from malbec, a grape variety that was once widely planted throughout the South-West, but is now only grown in the Blayais-Bourgeais region, in Cahors (under the name "cot" or "auxerrois") and also... in Argentina.

About the wine:

A wine for aging.

About the domain :

A 25-hectare estate in the Blayais and Bourgeais regions, built around an old coaching inn dating back to 1750, and run by Bruno Drode since 1985.

Disappointed by this wine, to be tasted again. I'm revising my rating upwards (1st bt tasted after a journey).

Very nice surprise for the 2nd time with 2008.1° drunk in April 2017: still closed and nervous. Good to very good the next day, very nice undergrowth nose. For me, it's much more digestible and easier to pair than many 2009 and 2010 Bordeaux wines.
