Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne, north of Pauillac, in the Haut-Médoc appellation, and has been owned by Jean Gautreau since 1969. It was love at first sight for this Bordeaux wine merchant, who was looking for a property to sell for one of his Belgian clients. Ideally situated on the banks of the Gironde, with panoramic views over the estuary, he decided to buy Château Sociando-Mallet for himself, despite the sorry state of the facilities and the vineyard, which at the time covered just 5 hectares.
