Château Moulin La Gravière

Château Moulin La Gravière
Château Moulin La Gravière, located in the Bordeaux region, is now owned by Catherine Péré-Vergé. Established in Pomerol since 1985, Catherine Péré-Vergé 's energy and motivation were put to the test when she embarked on a vast investment program for her Château Montviel estate. From this estate, she embarked on a series of acquisitions with equal success: Château Le Gay and Château La Violette in 2005. Meanwhile, Catherine Péré-Vergé also turned her attention to the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation, taking over Château Moulin La Gravière in 2000.

Château Moulin La Gravière is located in the commune of Néac, above Château Rouget. The vines of Château La Gravière face due south on a gravelly plateau. The vines are over 50 years old. The vines produce two Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation crus: Château La Gravière, made exclusively from Merlot grapes, and Château Moulin La Gravière, blended from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet. Château Moulin La Gravière is made with the same exacting quality and attention to detail as in Pomerol, where Michel Rolland works wonders!

Château La Gravière 2008

87/100 Robert Parker

Notes : Robert Parker 87/100, Guide Hachette citation
"A wine of pure Merlot with a very dark color, an open bouquet and great finesse, revealing a good grape well aged in barrel (twenty months). The palate reveals very ripe fruit. Very supple, it is underpinned by tannins that have already melted, without any aggressiveness. Serve this 2008 soon with red meats and hard cheeses, or wait two or three years. (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2012)

Château Moulin la Gravière - Lalande-de-Pomerol 2000

Catherine Péré-Vergé's expertise and passion are also being emulated in Pomerol's neighboring appellation, Lalande-de-Pomerol. Lalande-de-Pomerol benefits from an extremely high-quality terroir. Château Moulin la Gravière is run with the same high standards of quality and attention to detail as in Pomerol, where Michel Rolland works wonders!
