Château Sigognac
Château Sigognac, classified as a Cru Bourgeois du Médoc in 1932, is located in the Saint-Yzans plain on the ruins of a Roman "Villa Ausone." Since the 18th century, Château Sigognac wine has been exported to many countries. The Compagnie des Indes museum in Lorient has a model of a ship, built in 1740, on which barrels stamped "Sigognac" are stored.
After many inheritances, Château Sigognac came into the hands of Mr. Paul-François Grasset, at which point only 4 hectares of vines remained. Since then, the vineyard has been rebuilt and expanded with the purchase of 15 hectares that were part of Sigognac in the 19th century. In March 2009, the owners sold the château to Vignobles Allard SAS.
Château Sigognac continues to modernize while reviving the traditions and expertise that have always made its wine so highly prized.
