Château Doisy-Védrines
4/5See the 5 reviews
For centuries, the Chevaliers de Védrines owned the estate to which they gave their name.
Grand
Cru Classé in 1855, it was acquired by the ancestors of the current owners in the mid-19th century.
Château Doisy-Védrines is located on the clay-limestone plateau of Haut Barsac and comprises 35 hectares of vineyards.
The vineyard soils are traditionally worked. The grapes are harvested by hand, in 6 or 8 successive sortings. Fermentation and ageing take place in barrels (French oak only).
The combination of modern techniques and traditional craftsmanship gives Château Doisy-Védrines wines the great sap and finesse demanded of Sauternes Crus Classés. Doisy-Védrines produces 36,000 bottles.
Well-balanced and young, these wines are a real pleasure to drink as an aperitif. With an older vintage, they can be enjoyed at the end of a meal.

"The Chevaliers de Védrines, who owned this property for centuries (until 1840), would be proud of the work the Castéja family has done here. Doisy-Védrines is one of the stars of the 2005 vintage for its sublime elegance, richness and finesse. A formidable nose, fine and perfumed with a lifting touch of botrytis, serves as an impressive entry for a wonderfully pure Sauternes of extraordinary length. The wine is like an impeccably tailored suit on a perfectly formed body. Very reminiscent of their truly exceptional 1989." (18/20 Berry Bros & Rudd - Wine & Spirits)
