Sigalas Rabaud Castle
Château Sigalas Rabaud, located less than 500 meters from Château d'Yquem, is owned by the Lambert family. The Rabaud estate, established around 1660, was redeveloped in 1903, when Mr. de Sigalas created a "jewel of the terroir" by grouping together the sunny, gravelly plots purchased by his father forty years earlier. Six generations later, the grandchildren of the last representative of the elder branch of the Sigalas family, the Marquise de Lambert des Granges, are putting the same passion into cultivating its vines and producing its wines.

Château Sigalas Rabaud has 14 hectares of vines, making it the smallest of the Premiers Crus Classés in 1855. The environment and respect for biodiversity are priorities at Sigalas-Rabaud. Pest control is increasingly based on very precise observations. "Mass selection" allows the old plant material that contributes to the very distinctive taste of Sigalas-Rabaud to be preserved. Debudding, leaf removal, pruning and, above all, numerous and very precise "sorting" during the harvest allow the best botrytis to be picked from fully ripe grapes.

Château Sigalas Rabaud produces a fine, fresh, elegant Sauternes that combines the structure of 85% Sémillon with the charm of 15% Sauvignon. Discreet, modest, described as a "wine for connoisseurs," pleasant to discover when young, its aromas of lime blossom and white fruit commonly last for over a century.
