About the wine:
The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is a stunning wine with so much vitality, life and energy. It shows a brazen level of clarity and directness. If you're looking for sangiovese veracity, I think you'll find it here. This Brunello unfolds with lasting purity, elegance and length. It is luminous and radiant. Tasting alongside this estate's 2015 Riserva (which I've done on several occasions), I continued to recognize the lifted, exciting personality of this wine alongside the broader, heavier character of the Riserva. This Brunello shows extreme precision and concentration, both on the bouquet and on the palate. Wild berries, blue flowers and licorice converge to perfection, and it's impossible to beat this quality at this price.

About the wine:
Very fine tannins stand out from the start, nicely framing subtle notes of cherry, cedar, mahogany and light chocolate. Medium- to full-bodied, firm and linear. Try it after 2023.
