Every year, Philippe Alliet delivers his Cuvée Tradition in a consistently charming, gourmet style. A soft, round red, with complex flavors and great finesse. This wine should be decanted a few hours before tasting, as the low level of sulfur used sometimes favors the phenomenon of reduction, which of course disappears with aeration.

Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
More than ever a benchmark in the Loire, Domaine des Alliet - Claude, Philippe and their son Pierre - is dedicated to the cause of great Cabernet Franc wines. The new generation has moved away from heavy ageing, and the wines gain in refinement in their youth, while retaining great staying power over time. Coteau-de-Noiré, with its south-facing clay-limestone terroir, shines with ageing potential and nuanced intensity.

Rated (guide 2024) 90/100 (Wonderful wine)
About the wine:
Philippe Alliet has produced a clean, pure 2023 Tradition, offering aromas of dark wild berries, licorice, coniferous forest and cedar, followed by a moderately weighted, taut and elegant palate, framed by powdery tannins and fine acidity, which ends on a finely sculpted finish. It's easy-drinking, pleasant and very affordable. Aged in concrete tanks.

Rated wine (guide 2025) 90/100
Domaine rated (guide 2025) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the wine:
All the care, tact and precision of the winemaker can be seen in the 2023: a Cabernet Franc with violet reflections, a floral bouquet, and a structure established between tactile finesse and acidity. What a tonic! Open from 2025-2026.
About the domain :
The discreet Claude and Philippe Alliet were the creators of a new style in Chinon in the 1990s. Their cuvées Vieilles Vignes (gravel, vines 70 to 90 years old, 18 months in concrete vats), L'Huisserie (hilltop and flinty clay plateau) and especially Coteau de Noiré (steep, south-facing clay-limestone slope), seduced Cabernet Franc lovers with their dark color and incredible density. But there's no set recipe for Philippe Alliet, a fine taster and outstanding winemaker, backed up by his son, Pierre, since 2005, who helps him shape ever deeper, more stylish wines. As of 2010, the Bordeaux barrels have been replaced by 500-liter barrels, and the proportion of new wood has been greatly reduced.
