Château de Varennes
Château de Varennes is located in the heart of the Savennières appellation in the Loire Valley. The 7-hectare vineyard of Château de Varennes, owned by Alain Château like Château de la Guimonière and Château Bellerive, is planted exclusively with Chenin blanc. The Château de Varennes vines cling to the slopes of schist and sandstone that slope down to the northern bank of the Loire. Facing south/southeast, they benefit from exceptional sunshine.

Château de Varennes AOC Savennières is a golden yellow wine with green highlights. The schist and sandstone terroir produces a wine of exceptional quality. On the palate, the attack is smooth and fresh, with hints of hazelnut and apricot. The finish provides finesse and minerality.

"Aromatic, mineral nose with notes of chalk, lemon and honey. On the palate, the wine is tonic and punchy. The minerality is very present and imposes a certain severity. Lovers of dry Chenin will appreciate... Others will have to be patient". (Les Meilleurs Vins de France 2015 - Gault Millau)

"It's taut as it should be, there's edge, power and elegance, a fine bottle in prospect" (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France 2012). With 7 ha of vines located exclusively in the Savennières appellation, Château de Varennes is a favorite on the northern bank of the Loire. Here, it produces a mineral, fresh and very elegant white, with fine aromas. A lovely bottle to drink straight away with a filet mignon!
