"A tribute to Pagnol and the bartavelles of La Gloire de mon père (the largest species of partridge), this Bandol is also an ode to Mourvèdre, here from 50-year-old vines rooted in clay soils. Candied blueberry, cocoa bean, spicy (saffron, vanilla) and woody notes mingle elegantly on the bouquet, then return insistently in a dense, rich, ripe and well-typed palate, sheathed by fine, sappy tannins that accompany a savory finish tinged with Havana and star anise.
