Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2018 guide) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)
About the domain :
Since 2006, this estate has belonged to Sacha Lichine, former owner of Château Prieuré-Lichine in Margaux. With the help of Patrick Léon (ex-Mouton-Rothschild), he has largely taken over to produce wines of great definition. Their Garrus cuvée is probably the most expensive Provence rosé on the market.
Guide Hachette des vins
Rated domain (2018 guide) Awarded wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the domain :
A famous match manufacturer from Marseilles in the 1850s, Joseph Toussaint Caussemille was one of the many owners of Château d'Esclans, and gave his name to the estate, which was commissioned by a 19th-century building inspired by Tuscan villas and built on the remains of a medieval château. Sacha Lichine, son of the late Alexis Lichine, former owner of Château Prieuré-Lichine, took over this 267-hectare estate (including 44 hectares of vines) in 2006, renowned for its wood-aged rosés.
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (guide 2024 ) 17/20
About the wine:
It seems to have extra speed compared with all the other rosés tasted. The palate is deceptively heavy. Lots of strawberry fruit, a touch of raspberry acidity. Long and complex.
Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (guide 2024) 90/100
About the wine:
The nose is powerful, with aromas of pink fruit, oranges, cinnamon and decadent flowers, while the palate is full-bodied, with good chewiness, acidity, fresh citrus notes and a spicy note on the finish.

A glamorous success, all finesse and tension in an elegant setting. Pure and simple, Whispering Angel nevertheless displays insolent energy and perfect balance, whispering to the taste buds subtle nuances of succulent red fruit, fresh citrus and white pepper, served by exceptionally fresh acidity. The lovely, slightly creamy texture adds a comfortable, lush touch to the fruity, refreshing character, while the salivating finish lingers on with invigorating vivacity. A charming representative of Côtes de Provence, born to please the ladies...but not only, especially in the company of a salad of arugula, Cavaillon melon, mozzarella di bufala and Parma ham. Rating = 4.4.
