"Prestige!"

" Among the top two or three wines of the vintage and as good as Grenache could be in 2014, Châteauneuf du Pape Le Secret des Sabon (95% Grenache and 5% other authorized varieties) offers a superbly mature, medium-bodied to full-bodied wine with pure, complex aromas of black cherry, licorice, blackcurrant, and garrigue. It has a beautiful Grenache character, solid depth on the mid-palate, and soft tannins on the finish. A vintage wine that will age well for a decade." (Wine Advocate - Jeb Dunnuck)

Bettane & Desseauve

Winery rated 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, consistent with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

The vineyard of this very old Châteauneuf family is divided into numerous plots, located in different areas of the appellation, from La Crau to Cabrières, via Courthézon. Grenache is the dominant grape variety, although it is slightly less prevalent in the reserve cuvée.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

The Sabons are one of the oldest families in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. But each generation is different from the last: in the past, the wines from this estate were made from uncrushed grapes; today, they are partially crushed. Between classicism and modernity, the wines give pride of place to Grenache. The entire range shows surprising consistency, focused on the search for great maturity. Here, the greater the wine, the more refined it must be, and this with great naturalness.
