Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domain rated 1*Star (A serious, commendable production, in keeping with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the domain :
In 2004, Pascal Glas decided to take over the family vineyards after more than twenty years of winemaking in cooperative wineries in the south of France. Situated on the north-western edge of the Costières de Nîmes appellation, he makes straightforward, honest wines with exemplary balance and purity of fruit. The wines are thirst-quenching, with great depth of fruit, without ever being overdone.

Impressive Costières. Gorged with omnipresent fruit and sweet spices, the paradoxical palate combines power and volume with finesse and elegance. Supple, silky, enveloping tannins. Endless length, slightly cocoaed and delicately smoky. It's easy to forget the 14.5°. Score of 4.1 for this well-balanced, voluptuous, high-potential cuvée that has the air of a little Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Very interesting RQ/P. Tasted at 18° with oven-fried Sisteron lamb mice, accompanied by fresh chanterelles.
