"Stunning!"
"A superlative 3 years in barrel shapes your character, and this exemplary Syrah is not lacking in it. If the nose is still marked by woodiness (bourbon vanilla, camphor, peat), the palate offers a full, silky, ripe chewiness framed by tight tannins, where candied morello cherry and a touch of balsamic clove come to the fore. A serious, generous wine ". (Le Guide Hachette 2024)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated 93/100
Domaine rated (guide 2024) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Sample drawn from barrel. More richly raised than the other côtes-rôties in the range, more substance too, the wine has the shoulders to digest its wood, the palate is powerful and dense, the finish chocolaty.
About the domain :
This small estate produces just four cuvées, three in Côte Rôtie and one in Condrieu, from its 12 hectares of property, including 11 in Côte Rôtie, spread over a large number of parcels. Owned by the Guigal family since 2006, the estate is managed by an independent team.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (guide 2024) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
A superlative 3 years' barrel ageing shapes your character, and this exemplary Syrah is not lacking in it. While the nose is still marked by woodiness (bourbon vanilla, camphor, peat), the palate is full-bodied, silky and ripe, framed by tight tannins, with candied morello cherry and a touch of balsamic clove. A serious, generous wine.
About the domain :
When Marcel Guigal acquired this estate in 2006, founded in 1961 and enlarged and modernized in the 1990s, he added a jewel to his already richly decorated crown: a 12-hectare vineyard planted mainly with "serine", an ancient variety of syrah, which produces Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu wines.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Domaine noté (guide 2022) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the domain :
Domaine de Bonserine is owned by Guigal, but operates independently. With ten hectares of vines in Côte Rôtie, it is one of the largest landowners in the appellation, from which it makes three wines. La Sarrasine and La Garde come from different lieux-dits, while La Viallière comes from this single parcel of vines.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine noté (guide 2024) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list, and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the domain :
Acquired by the Guigal family in 2006, Domaine de Bonserine has retained total autonomy. Ludovic Richard, who runs it, can draw on a fine heritage of vineyards in Côte-Rotie and Condrieu. The entire vineyard is worked and ploughed, and indigenous yeasts are de rigueur. Aging is still quite present in the Côte-Rotie series, but will mellow with age.
