Domaine Les Pallières
Domaine Les Pallières is a superb 25-hectare vineyard clinging to the back of the Dentelles de Montmirail in the Rhône Valley, masterfully planted by the Hilarion Roux family in the middle of a northwest-facing Mediterranean forest. It was in 1998 that brothers Brunier and Kermit Lynch had the opportunity and decided to become owners of this superb site, planted with Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Clairette and Bourboulenc grapes, thus sealing an association that had begun more than 20 years earlier, when the first cases of Vieux Télégraphe were imported into the United States.

The first few years were naturally devoted to restoring the vineyards of Domaine Les Pallières. Four years later, the new winery was built, in which they have scrupulously respected their philosophy of receiving grapes by gravity, and where the production of each parcel can finally receive very specific care, given their diversity of character.

The Domaine Les Pallières style has now been established. It has been imposed on them by the landscape, by the influence of this very particular exposure, by the limestone scree coming down from the foothills of the Dentelles, mixed with this clay-sand soil from which the roots of a very old vineyard draw their resources. With a style that is both rugged and elegant, warm and mineral, Domaine Les Pallières produces a Gigondas for aging par excellence.

Domaine Les Pallières - Gigondas Les Racines 2012

89-91/100 Robert Parker

(2011 vintage notes)

From the Les Pallières area (terraced hillsides with north-west exposure), this cuvée reveals aromas of candied fruit, orange peel and spices; on the palate, it possesses the velvet, depth and harmony of old Grenache when grown on refined terroirs. A very fine bottle!

Domaine Les Pallières - Gigondas Les Terrasses du Diable 2012

90-92/100 Robert Parker

(2011 vintage notes)

Les Terrasses du Diable, from a plot selection on limestone scree from the Dentelles de Montmirail, reveals a mineral nose, with great freshness and precision. In its youth, this cuvée carries the minerality, freshness and sometimes marked tannins of high-altitude terroirs... Devilishly good!

Notes : Bettane & Desseauve 16/20, RVF 16/20, Decanter 16,5/20 (4****), IWC 92/100
"Still in 2006, Les Pallières plays the elegance card, with this refined and subtle wine, but also with an assertive personality. Notes of ripe cherries and a touch of caramelized wood combine with tannins that blend perfectly into the whole." (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2010 - Bettane & Desseauve)
