"The minerality typical of its limestone terroir blends with the aromatic expression of the grape varieties".

"Composed of 40% Clairette, 20% Grenache, 15% Roussanne and the rest Viognier aged almost entirely in concrete (some old demi-muids for the Roussanne), Lirac Blanc 2022 offers a bouquet of ripe white peach and pear notes, as well as honeyed flowers and subtle spices. It's rich and concentrated, yet fresh and lively, and an exceptional white wine from this team that readers will love." (Jeb Dunnuck 2023)

Domaine noté (guide 2022) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the domain :

In 1919, Jean Olivier acquired the former estate of the Counts of Aqueria, commissioned by an 18th-century château and adorned with a French-style park. His son-in-law Paul de Bez completely restructured the vineyard: today, 64 ha in a single block, managed since 1984 by his grandsons Vincent and Bruno, now joined by Raphaël, the fourth generation. A sure bet for lirac and tavel.

Estate rated 3*Stars (very good production)

About the domain :

Château d'Aqueria dates back to the 16th century. In 1920, it was acquired by Jean Olivier, who gave it its letters of nobility. Today, Vincent and Bruno de Bez look after the land of their childhood - no less than 66 hectares. Apart from Tavel, a renowned gourmet rosé, the rest of the production in the Lirac appellation (both red and white) is often interesting.

Breathing in the Southern Rhône, this Blanc presents a subtle balance of fine mineral freshness and a rich aromatic palette of white fruit, citrus zest, a healthy dose of spice and hints of verbena and fennel. Chaperoned by insistent bitters, the supple, slender frame is astonishingly fine, while the unctuous texture envelops the palate. Good volume ensures long aromatic persistence. Nice fatness and sapidity make this a good companion for crispy shrimp egg rolls in lettuce leaves, garnished with fresh chopped mint and nuoc mam sauce. Rating = 4.
