"Marsanne concentrate"

Made from 100% Marsanne and aged in 228-liter barrels with stirring of the lees, Saint Joseph Le Berceau Blanc 2023 reveals aromas of honeyed stone fruit, crushed stone, and ripe citrus, with beautiful minerality. Clean, pure, and balanced, with integrated acidity, medium body, and impressive length on the palate, this magnificent white should be enjoyed within the next 7 to 8 years, although it will also evolve over a longer period." Wine rated (2024 guide) 94/100

About wine:

Aromas of honey and honeysuckle. The wine is full-bodied, rich and powerful, with notes of roasted pineapple, pastry cream and noble bitterness; it is very impressive. Notes of marzipan on the long finish. Marsanne harvested by hand, old vines grown on granite. Fermented in 228-liter oak barrels, then aged on fine lees until the end of malolactic fermentation.

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About the estate:

The Gripa family arrived in Saint-Péray in the 17th century, then settled in Mauves around 1850. A sure bet in the northern Rhône Valley, both for its Saint-Péray and Saint-Joseph wines (as evidenced by the numerous Favorites in both appellations), the estate has been run since 2001 by Fabrice Gripa, son of Bernard, who now manages 18 hectares of vineyards.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 94/100

Rated estate (2024 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the estate:

Fabrice Gripa continues his father's work in the Mauves estate, which produces as many white wines as reds. He is a master of his craft, producing a range of wines with strong personalities. The whites are represented by four cuvées: two Saint-Péray and two Saint-Joseph. The reds are fruit-forward, with integrity and admirable aging. A consistent estate producing wines of very high quality.
