"In a word, paradise!"

"The Saint-Joseph Blanc Le Paradis Saint-Pierre 2023, with its deep straw color, offers intense notes of honeysuckle, lemon flesh, vanilla, Williams pear, and wet stone in its complex aromatic profile. Full-bodied, juicy, and concentrated, the radiant 2023 is a splendid follow-up to the equally seductive 2022. (Vinous 2024)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2024 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

Jérôme Coursodon is at the helm of one of Mauves' renowned estates. The Saint-Joseph wines from this part of the appellation (Mauves-Tournon) are different from those further north, around Sarras, even though they are all produced on granite soils. The estate's reds are often more accomplished than the whites.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly awarded by the guide)

About wine:

Le Paradis, a hillside with poor soil planted with 70-year-old vines, mainly Marsanne (90%), has produced this golden wine with a refined nose of honeyed flowers (lime blossom, acacia) and vanilla, smooth and long, stretched by a spicy freshness with hints of ginger. A nuanced Saint-Joseph with good aging potential, ideal for the table.

About the estate:

Established for four generations in Mauves, the birthplace of the Saint-Joseph appellation, Pierre Coursodon, the father, and Jérôme, the son, who took over in 1999, are at the helm of 17 hectares of vineyards dedicated solely to Saint-Joseph, mainly red. The wines from this estate have long been included in the Guide's selections: with rare consistency, they are regular recipients of stars and Favorites.

About wine:

A blend of 95% Marsanne and 5% Roussanne, the Saint-Joseph Le Paradis Saint-Pierre Blanc 2023 evokes aromas of almond blossom, ripe orchard fruit, spices, and nuts, followed by a medium-bodied to full-bodied palate that is rich and enveloping, with a sweet, fruity core and delicate acidity, ending with a long, ethereal finish. It is an elegant interpretation of this dry vintage.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2022 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

The Coursodon family has been producing wine since the late 19th century. The estate owns vineyards in the renowned areas of Mauves, Tournon, Saint-Jean-de-Muzol, and Glun. The white wines display a beautiful personality, without excessive oak. The red wine, L'Olivaie, comes from the heart of Sainte-Épine, in the village of Saint-Jean-de-Muzols. However, we found the latest vintages to be very demonstrative, with very pronounced woodiness. The result is wines that are not always very easy to drink. We regretfully have to deduct one star from the estate.
