Rated estate (2025 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the estate:

It was the estate of Eugène Carrel, taken over by his son Olivier, who in 2022 joined forces with Thomas Senger, a thirty-something Parisian who cut his teeth at LVMH, notably in the US. Olivier wanted to make "the world's greatest wine with Altesse" on the terroirs of Jongieux and Marestel, but he had more passion than means. Thomas arrived with significant investment capacity (new winery, wine tourism projects, marketing, selling price). All that remains is to improve the viticulture, which is still conventional. In short, an estate that is doing well and will do even better.

About wine:

Delicate, subtle, and floral on the nose, this Roussette expresses the Marestel terroir on the palate with its peach and mango flavors infused in a rich, round, and taut texture. Elegant, seductive, and promising, this Marestel is just waiting to open up and offer you the best it has to give.

About the estate:

A sure bet in the Savoyard vineyards, for both white and red wines, this estate was founded by the Carrel family, winegrowers from father to son since 1830 and six generations. Specializing in the 1970s under Eugène Carrel and run by his son Olivier from 1994 onwards, the estate and its 33 hectares planted on the steep slopes of Mont de la Charvaz and Mont du Chat were taken over in 2022 by Thomas Senger, a young entrepreneur born in Savoie with a passion for wine.
