"A chocolatey aroma, more supple and generous than usual, with structured volume and freshness... The wine expresses an appealing bouquet, blending toasted notes with those of fine black fruits, then develops a full, rich body supported by powerful tannins. Marsau has become one of the star wines of the small appellations on Bordeaux's right bank. (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France)

Eye
shiny black dress
Nose
Very seductive, with notes of jammy black fruits (black cherries, blueberries). When aerated, delicate notes of vanilla and cappuccino mingle with the fruit.
Mouth
The texture of this 2009 is creamy, rich, and round, while being well balanced by a lovely acidity. This makes for a very fine wine that can already be enjoyed.

About the estate:
Jean-Marie Chadronnier was head of the Dourthe-Kressmann winery for many years before acquiring Château Marsau, which has become one of the star wines of the smaller appellations on Bordeaux's right bank. It owes its success to an extremely seductive style, developed by its owner.

About wine:
Purchased in 1994 by the Chadronniers, well-known Bordeaux wine merchants, this cru is located on clay soil where Merlot reigns supreme. After twelve months in barrel, its intense garnet 2009 vintage reveals toasted aromas, enveloped by cooked black fruits. The palate, warm and rich, follows the same aromatic line, between very ripe fruit and roasted nuances. Drink within two years with meat in sauce.

Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
A Merlot with aromas of mocha and black cherry, with hints of tobacco leaves and coffee. This wine is dense, pure, medium-bodied, full-bodied, and very appealing in its maturity and silkiness. Best enjoyed within the next 5 to 7 years.

Rated estate (2015 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
We confirm our assessment of the 2009 vintage, which returns to a full-bodied, elegant style (with more subtle oak notes this year), offering the roundness of a beautifully mature Merlot. Best enjoyed within two to three years.
About the estate:
It is one of the three best representatives of the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, along with Puygueraud and Les Charmes-Godard. The estate, supervised by oenologist Michel Rolland, belongs to Jean-Marie Chadronnier, former president of the CVBG Dourthe-Kressmann wine merchant. It regularly produces a delicious, fruity wine, often with good concentration. Today, Anne-Laurence and Mathieu are gradually taking over the management of the family estate, with Anne-Laurence in charge of production and communication, and Mathieu in charge of marketing.
