"Chocolate aroma, more supple and generous than usual, structured volume, freshness... The wine expresses a seductive bouquet, blending toasty notes with those of good black fruit, then develops a full, rich body supported by powerful tannins. Marsau has become one of the star wines of the small Bordeaux Right Bank appellations". (Le Guide Bettane & Desseauve des Vins de France)

Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Scored (2013 guide) 14.5/20 (Good wine)
Domaine rated (2015 guide) 1*Star (A serious, recommendable production, in line with what one has the right to expect from its appellation(s))
About the wine:
Chocolate aroma, more supple and generous than usual, structured volume, freshness... The wine expresses a seductive bouquet, blending toasty notes with those of good black fruit, then develops a full, rich body supported by powerful tannins. Marsau has become one of the star wines of the small Bordeaux Right Bank appellations.
About the domain :
Jean-Marie Chadronnier was for many years at the head of Dourthe-Kressmann before buying Château Marsau, which has become one of the star growths of the small Bordeaux right bank appellations. It owes its success to an extremely seductive style, perfected by its owner.
Guide Hachette des vins

Domaine noté Award-winning wines (Wines from this producer regularly win awards in the guide)
About the wine:
Purchased in 1994 by the Chadronnier family, well-known Bordeaux merchants, this cru is situated on a clay terroir where Merlot is king. After twelve months in barrel, its intense garnet-red 2009 reveals toasty aromas, coated with cooked black fruits. The palate, warm and fat, follows the same aromatic line, between very ripe fruit and roasted nuances. Drink within two years with meat in sauce.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Rated (2012 guide) 89/100 (Very good wine)
Domaine noté Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About the wine:
A Merlot that smells of mocha and black cherry, with hints of tobacco leaf and coffee. This wine is dense, pure, medium-bodied, fleshy and very seductive in its ripeness and silkiness. Drink over the next 5-7 years.

Wine rated (2014 guide) 15.5/20 (Good wine)
Domaine noté (guide 2015) Sélectionné (We remind you that this guide is a prize list and as such, all the estates that appear in it, even without a star, represent, in our eyes, the excellence of French production).
About the wine:
We confirm our judgement of the 2009, which returns to a complete, elegant style (with a more discreet woodiness for the year), offering the roundness of a Merlot of fine maturity. Drink over two to three years.
About the domain :
It is one of the three best representatives of the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, along with Puygueraud and Les Charmes-Godard. The estate, monitored by oenologist Michel Rolland, is owned by Jean-Marie Chadronnier, former president of the CVBG Dourthe-Kressmann trading house. He regularly produces a gourmet, fruity wine, often with good concentration. Today, Anne-Laurence and Mathieu are gradually taking over management of the family estate, with Anne-Laurence in charge of production and communication, and Mathieu in charge of marketing.
