Château La Prade
Château La Prade, located in the Bordeaux region and owned by Patrick Valette, was bought by Nicolas Thienpont in 2000. The vines of Château La Prade occupy 4.5 hectares of beautifully situated soil in the commune of Saint-Cibard, partly on the limestone plateau and partly on limestone-clay slopes. The complexity of the terroirs brings subtlety and elegance to Château La Prade's AOC Côtes de Francs.

The rules governing viticulture and vinification at Château La Prade are the same as those at Château Puygueraud, and are inspired by those practiced by Nicolas Thienpont on the properties they manage in Saint-Emilion, thus ensuring a high level of quality for all his crus. Château La Prade 'sold vines are given greater care, with low yields and greater precision in plot selection. The wines are aged on fine lees, with 50% new barrels and malolactic fermentation in barrels. The preservation of fruit, the search for fullness, the beautiful tannic structure, all combine to make this Merlot-dominant wine, with its characteristic roundness, one of the finest expressions of Côtes de Francs.

"Very dark black cherry. Sweet fruit, just a little malty. Fine, dry mineral texture, more mineral than dry. Again lively freshness and a really juicy finish, but there's also a firmer tannic structure around the fruit." (Jancis Robinson 2013)
