"Very dark black cherry. Sweet fruit, just a little malty. Fine, dry mineral texture, more mineral than dry. Again lively freshness and a really juicy finish, but there's also a firmer tannic structure around the fruit." (Jancis Robinson 2013)

Francs Côtes de Bordeaux
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Rated wine (2013 guide) 91/100
About the wine:
Generous and dense, tight tannins with flesh, very dark fruit, compact length.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2016 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
About the wine:
Without having the concentration of the previous vintage, Favorite of the Guide, this wine seduces with its complex bouquet blending black fruit with toasty oak, and its round, well-structured palate, with a toasty, liquorice finish reflecting controlled barrel ageing. It should be drunk younger than its predecessor.
Guide des Vins Gault & Millau
Estate rated (2012 guide) 3*Stars (Very good production)
About the domain :
"La Prade is located in one of Bordeaux's smallest appellations, occupying the highest slopes in the Gironde. It has belonged to the Thienpont family (Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol) since 2000. Nicolas Thienpont, who now farms some 6 hectares dominated by Merlot, seeks to preserve the fruitiness and fatness of his wines; aging, as well as malolactic fermentation, generally takes place in new barrels for 50% to 60% of the stock".
Jancis Robinson
Wine rated (2013 guide) 16/20
About the wine:
Very dark black cherry. Sweet fruit, just a little malty. Fine, dry mineral texture, more mineral than dry. Again, lively freshness and a really juicy finish, but there's also a firmer tannic structure around the fruit.
James Suckling
Wine rated (2015 guide) 90/100
About the wine:
Raspberry, blueberry and cedar on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean finish. Long and elegant.

An excellent, delicate bottle, with a frank but not aggressive attack, smooth and velvety while remaining fruity, and a long, slightly oaky finish.
