Barateau Castle
Château Barateau is a wine estate in the Bordeaux region that dates back to the 18th century. It owes its name to Abbé Barateau, who came in 1820 to bless the first stone of this wine estate. The Château Barateau vineyard is planted on a beautiful clay-limestone hilltop, facing south. This well-structured Bordeaux red wine attracts the attention of all wine lovers. Château Barateau, whose quality is often cited as an example of the fine products of the Haut-Médoc, has an impressive list of awards, including four gold medals at the Aquitaine regional wine competition.

The revival of Château Barateau is the work of the Leroy family. In order to diversify its activities, it decided in 1987 to invest in viticulture. The new owner of Château Barateau spent a great deal on modernizing and rebuilding the estate, and was rewarded a few years later by joining the ranks of the best wines of the Haut-Médoc appellation. The 24-hectare vineyard is made up of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 48% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot.
