Château Barateau
Château Barateau is a winegrowing estate in the Bordeaux region that already existed in the 18th century. It owes its name to Abbé Barateau, who came to bless the first stone of the estate in 1820. Château Barateau 's vineyard is planted on a beautiful clay-limestone hillside, facing due south. This well-structured Bordeaux red wine will appeal to all wine-lovers. Château Barateau, whose quality is often cited as an example of products from the lovable Haut-Médoc, boasts an impressive list of medals, including four golds at the regional Aquitaine wine competition.

Château Barateau 's rise to prominence is the work of the Leroy family. In 1987, to diversify their activities, they decided to invest in viticulture. The new owner of Château Barateau spent heavily to modernize and rebuild the estate, and was rewarded a few years later with a place in the top tier of Haut-Médoc appellation wines. The 24-hectare vineyard is planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cabernet Franc, 48% Merlot and 2% Petit Verdot.
