Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated (2018 guide) 15.5/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2021) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the wine:

Very exuberant, complex nose of exotic fruit, smoke, aristoloche, marshmallow, flint, old rose, very voluptuous palate, with good flesh, persistent aromas and a certain liveliness. A powerful white.

About the domain :

In the heart of Léognan, this beautiful 75-hectare estate was bought in 1987 by Philippe Gervoson, also head of the Andros company. It produces modern-style wines, with flattering, vinous reds, while the whites have become much more full-bodied and precise. The arrival of Bruno Lemoine as managing director in 2007, winemaker of the famous 1990 Montrose (among others), has enabled the cru to assert even more personality. The reds are undeniably charming but not without elegance, and have great ageing potential. The whites, in much the same vein, are aromatically exuberant, powerful and endowed with incredible personality. A sure bet for the appellation.

Guide Hachette des vins

Wine rated (2018 guide) 2**Stars (Outstanding wine)

About the wine:

Born from a majority Sauvignon grape, this 2015 is as pleasing in its presentation, between yellow and golden, as it is fine in its aromas of toasted almond and white flowers with a hint of minerality. On the palate, it combines good volume with a dashing freshness that enhances the peach aromas and gives length to the finish.

Wine rated (2018 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)

Domaine rated (guide 2022) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winemakers with good production levels, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

Due to a small harvest, the 2015 whites didn't go into the ovoid concrete vats, but into three containers for vinification and ageing: new barrels, 500-liter casks and foudres. This is a full-bodied white with a full mid-palate of aromas more exotic than citrus.

About the domain :

Owned by the Gervoson family (Andros Group), this estate consistently produces pleasant, accessible wines, distinguished by their aromatic exuberance. Boasting a beautiful terroir on the heights of Léognan, not far from Haut-Bailly and La Louvière, the cru also benefits from modern winemaking facilities with a brand-new concrete vat room. Bruno Lemoine, director since 2007, and François Gaudichon, cellar master since 2015, bring an extra degree of precision to the stylistic definition of the wines.
