"Seductive nose, cassis perfumed with violets - fruity and floral. Excellent core, juicy and vibrant. It has a pleasing character, quite bright in the glass but still with depth emphasizing black fruit and licorice spice. I like the framing and overall balance. The blue fruits, refreshing elements andfresh acidity of the whole keep it quite lifted with just a touch of austerity appearing towards the finish." (Decanter 2022)

Expert opinion

Wine rated (2020 guide) 92/100
3*Star rating (High-quality production, a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
Fine tannins wrapped in well-formed flesh are woven into a concentrated body with a fresh finish that fully seduced us during our second tasting of this vintage.
About the domain :
The Janoueix family, one of the great wine families of the Right Bank, has always had a sense for the great wines of Pomerol. Marie-Antoinette Janoueix deserves a special mention: in 1999, she had the excellent intuition to isolate four hectares of gravel in the heart of the clay plateau that went to make up Château-la-croix. These high-quality plots are now joined by prestigious neighbors Le Pin, Vieux Château Certan and Petit Village. His daughter Marie-Jo Chabut has skilfully taken over the estate and entrusted technical responsibility to her nephew, the talented Jean-Philippe Janoueix, who brings greater precision to the mid-palate and finish. The dense, voluptuous attack continues with suavity and energy, while the truffled finish adds nobility to the whole.
