Château Haut-Marbuzet

Vin Marbuzet: a seductive wine

Château Haut-Marbuzet is owned by Henri Duboscq and produces classified Cru Bourgeois wines in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. The vineyard currently covers 65 hectares and enjoys excellent exposure overlooking the Gironde, sitting on the gravelly ridges typical of the Saint-Estèphe AOC.

At Château Haut-Marbuzet, the slightly over-ripe grapes are harvested by hand from a plot-by-plot selection. Henri Duboscq and his sons vinify the wine the traditional way, using indigenous yeasts, and age their wine in new oak barrels, giving this Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois a smooth, mellow character much appreciated by wine lovers. Château Haut-Marbuzet has acquired a worldwide reputation, thanks to the care and attention lavished by the current owner, and the obvious style and quality of his Saint-Estèphe.

Château Haut Marbuzet is a red wine from the Bordeaux vineyards of the Haut Marbuzet estate, located on the left bank of the Gironde, 50 km from Bordeaux. This estate is located in the Médoc wine-growing region. Vin Marbuzet is the first grand vin produced by Haut Marbuzet, and Château Mac Carthy the second.
Its texture is silky smooth. It has a warm, charming character. Haut-Marbuzet is perfectly on target, suave and refined as hell. Haut-Marbuzet is an original Bordeaux with aromas of oriental spices. Haut-Marbuzet is a highly original Bordeaux with aromas of oriental spices. Marbuzet attracts a lot of wine lovers, especially with its best vintages: 2015, 2014, 2010, 2009, 2005, 2003, 2001, 1999, 1996, 1995, 1990, but the wine is also highly original and opulent.

Château Haut Marbuzet and the Dubosq family: passionate about wine

Château Haut Marbuzet has belonged to the Dubosq family since 1952. The château is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Estèphe, with an average vine density of 9,000 vines/ha. It extends to 75 hectares of vines planted with 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. No chemical weedkillers are used, so the vines are ploughed and scratched. The grapes are harvested by hand at high ripeness and then undergo a very long maceration, the key stage in red wine vinification for extracting the right matter and beautiful aromas. It makes the wine easy to drink, yet rich. They are traditionally vinified using indigenous yeasts. The wines are vinified in concrete or thermo-regulated wooden vats, then aged in new barrels for a year and a half.

Henri Dubosq, son of Hervé Dubosq, joined production in 1962. He is a passionate winemaker, using ripe fruit. Henri has devoted all his time and energy to 50 years of work. He works hard to diversify woods and toast in order to achieve a true richness of aroma. This passion and his wine have built up the greatness of this château, and led to it being awarded Cru Bourgeois exceptionally when the Cru Bourgeois classification was revised in June 2003, and classified as the best Cru in the Saint-Estèphe appellation. He has shown the production of this wine in the cinema and is proud of it. He continues to pass on his knowledge and culture to his two sons, Hugues and Bruno.

"Perfectly on target, suave and refined as hell. It will be hard to resist! - RVF "

"The bouquet of Haut-Marbuzet is beautifully fresh, with dark berries and refreshing nuances in perfect symbiosis. The palate remains in line with the bouquet; it is delicious, inviting and fresh. Good aromatic expression, ideally supported by structure. The tannins are elegant, perfectly integrated and offer good support. A St-Estèphe with finesse. Bravo."
