"An immediate pleasure!"
"Pale to medium lemon gold in color, Sigalas Rabaud 2010 bursts from the glass with notes of preserved lemons, lime cordial and apricot tart, as well as hints of kerosene and allspice.Concentrated and boldly fruity on the palate, it has a racy backbone that counterbalances the seductively dense layers, finishing with a touch of citrus." Château Sigalas Rabaud
Sauternes
Expert opinion
Bettane & Desseauve
Domaine rated (2023 guide) 4*Stars (Top-quality producers, the glories of French winegrowing)
About the domain :
A direct neighbor of Lafaurie-Peyraguey, Sigalas-Rabaud is a small vineyard of 14 hectares in a single block (the smallest classified growth in Sauternes), ideally exposed, capable of producing a very syrupy wine of transcendent finesse. Due to its early age, grape rot develops in a particularly noble way, as the great vintages of the last twenty years have shown. Laure Compeyrot de Lambert steers the vineyard towards a more respectful viticulture and produces dry wines with character.
Guide Hachette des vins
Wine rated (2014 guide) 1*Star (Very successful wine)
Domain rated (guide 2021) Award-winning wines (The wines of this producer are regularly awarded by the guide)
About the wine:
For the sake of completeness, from 1995 to 2008, vines and vinification were handled by neighboring Lafaurie-Peyraguey. The 2010 is therefore an "in-house" creation: a deep golden-yellow wine with amber highlights, a nose of candied orange and pineapple, lime blossom and sweet almond on a light woody background, full-bodied, rich and unctuous on the palate, warmer on the finish. A fine classic, to be aged for a few years.
About the domain :
Established in the 17th century by a family of magistrates at the Bordeaux parliament, Ch. Rabaud was acquired by Henri Sigalas and became Sigalas-Rabaud in 1863. In 1903, his son Pierre sold 30 ha to the Promis family, keeping only "the jewel of the terroir", i.e. the present 14 ha planted on a gravelly hilltop on clay. The history of the estate was then eventful (leasing, regroupings, divisions), until the family lands were taken over in 1951 by Marie-Antoinette de Lambert des Granges, née Sigalas, whose granddaughter, Laure de Lambert Compeyrot, now manages the estate.

Pale to medium lemon gold in color, Sigalas Rabaud 2010 bursts from the glass with notes of preserved lemons, lime cordial and apricot tart, as well as hints of kerosene and allspice. Concentrated and boldly fruity on the palate, it has a racy backbone that counterbalances the seductively dense layers, finishing with a touch of citrus.
RVF - La Revue du Vin de France / Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France
Domaine rated (2023 guide) 2*Stars (These great estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, because of their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the domain :
The de Lambert family exploits this magnificent, homogeneous terroir, which provides ideal conditions for the development of noble rot. The wine's style is unrivalled: while it matches the Haut-Sauternais premiers crus in richness of liqueur and power, with a bouquet of the same nature, it reveals a more assertive immediate finesse, which only increases tenfold with ageing. In the final analysis, these are small miracles that a core of loyal connoisseurs place in the firmament of Sauternes. Laure de Lambert-Compeyrot took over the management of Sigalas Rabaud in 2013 and is energetically developing the production of dry whites (La Sémillante de Sigalas and La Demoiselle). She is also fighting for recognition of a new dry Sauternes appellation.

About the wine:
An unctuous style with flavors of toasted coconut and brioche framing creamy apricot, tangerine and mango. It remains toasty and nutty through the finish, with pleasant background notes. Drink now through 2025.

Wine rated (2013 guide) 94/100
About the wine:
Lots of caramel at first in this wonderful Sauternes. Vanilla, apricot and pure white peach with lots of white flowers. Very pretty nose. Wonderful texture on the palate with elegance and finesse. Medium sweetness. Long and charming. Drink from 2016.
Le Figaro vins
Wine rated (2012 guide) 94/100

About the wine:
The attack is straight, the wine quite austere, set on its acid column, quite distinguished, with a fine noble rot, the finish is of great class. A wine for laying down, but you'll have to be patient.
The Wine Cellar Insider - Jeff Leve
Wine rated (2014 guide) 93/100
About the wine:
Young, lively, sweet, rich and concentrated, with notes of ripe pineapple, lemon cream, apricot and marmalade. The balance between sweetness and acidity is right where it should be. The wine finishes on a lively note of honey, tropical fruit, walnut and apricot.
