Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet
The villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet share Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet. Chevalier on Puligny and Bienvenues, Criots on Chassagne. These are the southernmost Grands Crus in Côte-d'Or, between Meursault (to the north) and Santenay (to the south). First produced in the Middle Ages by the Cistercian abbey of Maizières and the lords of Chagny, Montrachet (pronounced Mon-Rachet) came into its own in the 17th century. Montrachet is also a family of 4 closely related grands crus: Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet and Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet (AOC grands crus of July 31, 1937).
Wine characteristics :
While there are nuances within the different climats, there are common features. Beneath an emerald gold color, yellowing with age, the white wine bouquet suggests butter and warm croissant, fern, dried fruit, spices and honey. Body and bouquet are indistinguishable, as structure and harmony merge into perfect unity. Unctuous and firm, dry and caressing, enveloped and deep, it possesses all the graces beneath an unyielding character.

Louis Jadot - Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2009
Rating: Robert Parker 94/100
This wine, vinified and aged in oak barrels, is the object of great care: it is seductive, with a developed aromatic intensity. The balance of acidity and mellowness is remarkable, with great potential and an astonishing spectrum of fruit, flowers, mushrooms and spices...
