Ladoix
The Ladoix appellation d'origine contrôlée is a Village appellation in Côte de Beaune, Côte-d'Or. It comprises 11 climats classified as Premier Cru. The Ladoix and Ladoix Premier Cru appellations may or may not be followed by the name of their original climat.

The upper part of the hillside is planted on stony, reddish (ferruginous oolite), chalky and fairly marly soils: great white wines. At mid-slope, brown limestone soils, always reddish and abundantly covered with flinty limestone debris: the full-bodied, flamboyant reds, tempering their more clayey ardor on the foothills. Exposure: east or southeast/south. Altitude: 230 to 325 meters.

AOC Ladoix red wines are made from Pinot Noir grapes, white wines from Chardonnay.

Wine characteristics :
Red: its color often evokes brilliant garnet with purplish highlights. Raspberry, cherry (candied or brandied) and ripe fruit fill the bouquet. Vegetal (elderberry), spicy (clove), coffee and cocoa notes are also present. On the palate: The soft, supple shape is round and full, with a velvety, spherical texture and just the right amount of tannin.
White: golden or pale straw, its aromas lean towards acacia, often with a buttery accent. Classic bouquet of plum, ripe apple, quince, fig or spicy pear. Lively and firm, yet knowing how to control its momentum, a wine whose fullness and fatness balance its spontaneous freshness. The mellowness comes with time.

"A stunning Pinot, elegant and gourmet!"

"I love the bark and wild herb nuances of the red berries. A touch of licorice. It's lively and fresh, with medium body and fine, elegant tannins. Drink now or cellar. (James Suckling 2024)

"Beautiful harmony of green fruit and citrus".

"The Ladoix 2022 Le Clou d'Orge (Domaine Gagey) is excellent, opening in the glass with aromas of pear, green apple and citrus zest framed by notions of nutty reduction and wet stones. Medium- to full-bodied, satiny and racy, with tangy acids and a chalky finish, this is a favorite among Jadot insiders." (Wine Advocate 2024)

"Ladoix Blanc 2019 presents notes of citrus zest, warm bread, white flowers and crushed stones. Medium- to full-bodied, chiseled and incisive, it's concentrated and mineral, with a long, chalky finish. This one was selected with 14.2% potential alcohol and a pH of 3.0, an extreme example of 2019's combination of high ripeness and low pH." (Wine Advocate 2021)

A fairly confidential appellation, Ladoix is nonetheless of very high quality. On the nose, the estate's cuvée presents a good intensity of varied aromas of red fruits and spices mixed with woody scents. After a fairly lively attack, this wine has good volume with a medium tannic structure. A delicate, well-balanced wine!

Cité Hachette

(2015 vintage notes)

A fleshy, full-bodied red, with a lovely fruity aromatic composition: blackcurrant and sweet spices on the nose, with a touch of violet and candy on the palate. A wine of pure pleasure!
