Bettane & Desseauve
"[...] The nose is initially quite reticent, then leaving the wine in my glass for 10 minutes, it really opens up and shows its complexity thanks to the blend of soils, honeysuckle and dry honey, lime and light licorice notes. The palate is very well balanced with good depth, real volume and presence here, a satisfying texture with impressive persistence on the finish. Excellent, but savvy connoisseurs will cellar it for several years before tasting." (Vinous 2022). Graceful, superb, a great white!

Terroirs
A magnificent enclosed terroir that has been an integral part of the estate since it was built in the 15th century, this 2.68-hectare hillside, dominated by a higher proportion of clay, is the only monopole to have been classified 1er cru since 2020. Its particularity stems in particular from its geological composition, which is unique within the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation: the lower part of the hillside is composed of clay (deep colluviosols), the middle portion is predominantly marl and the upper part is composed of hard limestone.
Viticulture
Traditional, by applying reasoned precepts and organic fertilizers, ensuring the sustainability of the terroirs; the soil is systematically worked by plot to limit erosion and ensure respect and authenticity progressively after racking and regular tastings.

Domain rated 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)
About the wine:
The parcel near the château will be classified Premier Cru from 2020. Facing east, it produces a racy, delicate, honeyed white, with notes of bitter orange and sweet spices. Impressive length.
About the domain :
Antoine and Bénédicte Vincent, brother and sister, manage this historic 40-hectare estate, spread over the Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Mâcon and Juliénas appellations. The soils are tilled, the viticulture is integrated and the wines are aged in barrels from a single cooperage to maintain a constant, rigorous approach. Cuvées are marketed under a château range and a négociant range. The Clos and Brûlées cuvées will be classified as Premier Cru as of the 2020 vintage.

About the wine:
Located in the very heart of the village of Fuissé, on shallow clay and marl soils, on limestone at the top of the slope. The oldest vines were planted in the 1920s, and the average age is 60 years. The wine is aged in barrels on lees and stirred every two weeks. It's a rich wine, with an almost honeyed nose, floral notes and ripe apple fruit, almost pineapple. The texture is dense and very long; it's a classic of the region and a very traditional style.

About the domain :
Today, this emblematic Fuissé estate cultivates 40 hectares of Chardonnay on the appellation's finest terroirs. The Vincent family has owned the estate since 1862, and Antoine, an agricultural engineer and oenologist, since 2003. Wines of international renown emerge from the 15th-century cellars: 80% are exported.

About the wine:
Brilliant gold. Intensely pastry-like in its range of aromas, Le Clos 1er cru monopole expresses ripe scents of pineapple and Bourbon vanilla. The full, concentrated palate retains its lush, woody style. The whole is not lacking in energy and shows a persistent length.
About the domain :
This historic estate has belonged to the Vincent family since 1862. The château boasts many old vines. Since 2003, Antoine Vincent has been vinifying the major Mâconnais appellations here, including two Premier Crus in Fuissé, as well as a small 3-hectare vineyard in Juliénas. In 2020, we salute the mastery of woody ageing and the more homogeneous management adapted to this great vintage.

About the wine:
The 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Le Clos 1er Cru comes from the walled vineyard, the only officially recognized premier cru monopole, covering 2.68 ha, with the vines facing east on three soils - clay at the bottom, marl in the middle and limestone at the top. It was harvested on August 30. The nose is initially rather reticent, but after leaving the wine in my glass for 10 minutes, it really opens up and shows its complexity thanks to the mix of soils, dried honeysuckle and honey, lime and light licorice notes. The palate is very well balanced with good depth, real volume and presence here, a satisfying texture with impressive persistence on the finish. Excellent, but discerning connoisseurs will cellar this wine for several years before enjoying it.
