dense

"The most intense of the estate's Saint-Romains".

"Unfolding in the glass with notes of citrus oil, crisp green fruit, white flowers and subtle hints of fresh pastry, the 2018 Saint-Romain Sous le Château is dense, elegantly textured and incisive, with a tightly wound core, racy acids and fine concentration. As usual, this is one of the most complete wines in the Saint-Romain lieux-dits range." (Wine Advocate 2020)

Bettane & Desseauve

Domain rated (2023 guide) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

Frédérick and Franck Buisson, whose family presence in the village dates back to the 12th century, represent the eighth generation of winemakers at this historic Saint-Romain estate. Ecocert-certified since 2012, they develop the most natural viticulture and oenology. The red wines, which still contain some whole bunches, offer a precise vision of their terroir that argues for the rediscovery of a Saint-Romain we haven't often seen at this level. The precise whites are not to be outdone.

Domaine rated (2023 guide) 1*Star (Stars in the making or quality winegrowers with a good level of production, you won't be disappointed when you taste the wines from these estates)

About the domain :

Frédéric, winemaker, and Franck, salesman, manage one of the largest domains vineyards in the southern Côte de Beaune. Certified organic since 2009, they will be switching to biodynamic viticulture in 2018. For ten years now, they have been following the lunar calendar for their bottling. Serious work in the vineyard and cellar enables them to produce deep, racy wines that age well. This is an estate that perfectly enhances the Saint-Romain appellation in both red and white, with fine, precise and elegant wines. A range of wines that richly deserve their first star.

About the wine:

On the nose, the lemony freshness and creamy notes of ageing are a real invitation to taste this wine. The palate brings a fresh note of greengage to the woody, mellow mid-palate. The finish is resonant and fresh.
