Kistler Vineyards
Founded in 1978 by Steve and John Kistler, later joined by Mark Bixler, Kistler Vineyards is renowned for its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines. With a genuine commitment to quality, the Kistlers produce their wines in the Burgundian tradition, applied to the New World.
Unlike most California wineries , the majority of the grapes used in Kistler wines come from vineyards belonging to the estate. These vineyards are located between western Sonoma and the Carneros region, just north of San Francisco. These are cool areas, ideal for the production of these Burgundy grape varieties.
Robert Parker said of Kistler: "If Kistler could be magically transported to the middle of the Côte d'Or, it would quickly achieve a reputation as glorious as that of the best producers of Burgundy grands crus."
