Champagne Deutz
Champagne Deutz was founded in Aÿ in 1838 by William Deutz and Pierre-Hubert Geldermann, who both came from families in Aachen, where they had been born, under the First Empire. Young and enterprising, and attracted by the prosperity then reigning in France under King Louis-Philippe, the two immigrants from Napoleonic Prussia (Geldermann, a Champagne salesman, and Deutz, a wine merchant) opened an office without owning a vineyard. They bought cuvées on laths, already bottled, disgorged, measured and labeled them. The Maison Deutz et Geldermann prospered, and by the time René Deutz and Alfred Geldermann inherited the business from their fathers in the late 1860s, their Champagne sales had been steadily increasing for years.

Today, past and present coexist harmoniously in theDeutz Champagne House , combining tradition with modern management methods. While maintaining and constantly seeking to improve the technical means put in place by its predecessors, the new management team continues to strengthen the company's relationship with its winemaking partners, visiting them at the presses and ensuring that they always apply the viticultural practices that make the decisive contribution to the Deutz character. The same quest continues: to combine tradition with technology to create champagnes of elegance, in the purest Deutz style.

"Refined!"

"Cranberries, goji berries and other pink berries play in concert with a hint of Thai basil on this cuvée, whose color is always very engaging. We're delighted. On the palate, the greedy bubbles and the right dosage allow this cuvée to present itself to tasting with great frankness. The umami character of the finish suggests a pairing with salmon, beurre blanc and soy sauce". (Gault & Millau 2023)

"A true benchmark of remarkable precision!

"With its ripe fruit (pear, peach), we can recognize the 2019 base, a warm year, a greediness of fruit that continues on the palate, in the roundness, with a lush bubble. An excellent brut". (Bettane & Dessauve 2024).

"Powerful, rich and complex nose, developing aromas of baked apples, with light, pleasant notes of candied ginger and nutmeg. After a clean attack, this wine expresses delicate currant flavors. A true invitation to the charms of sunny countries ". (Le Guide des Vins 2011 - Gault Millau)
