About wine:
Still in its early youth, the 2015 Coteaux-Champenois Athénaïs offers dense flesh and acidity enveloped by luxurious, consensual aging.
About the estate:
Xavier Gonet set up his own business in Bisseuil, a premier cru in the Marne Valley, with his wife Julie, née Médeville, from Château Gilette in Sauternes. They have an original range of vines: the family contribution of great Chardonnays from Mesnil-sur-Oger (Louvière, Champ d'Alouette), good Pinot Meunier (Mareuil) and Pinot Noir (Ambonnay and Bisseuil) crus. To ensure the wine has greater liveliness as it ages, malolactic fermentation is blocked. An increasingly large proportion of clear wines are also fermented in barrels, which enhances the finesse of the bubbles. We appreciate the perfect consistency of a personal range, a fitting reward for synchronized efforts in viticulture and winemaking.
