Seña
In the early 1990s, Edouardo Chadwick - owner of the renowned Vina Errazuriz - and Robert Mondavi - renowned Napa Valley producer, joined forces to create an iconic Chilean cuvée. Over a period of four years, they searched for the ideal terroir to bring their project to fruition.

The Sena vineyard is located in the western part of the Aconcagua Valley, 41 km from the Pacific Ocean and 100 km northwest of Santiago, Chile's capital. It covers 42 hectares planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Syrah. Due to its location, Sena 's climate is cooler than other red wine-producing areas. However, it is warm enough for each grape variety to reach optimum ripeness. Harvesting generally takes place two weeks later than in the region's other, more inland vineyards.

The Sena terroir lies on the colluvial soils of the hillsides of the Aconcagua Valley, containing a diversity of textures and varying amounts of rock. Thus, there are large quantities of gravel, rock and loam.

Sena was bottled for the first time in 1995, and since then it has received rave reviews. A goal fulfilled for Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi - who passed away in 2008.

In the interests of quality, Sena 's vineyards are now managed biodynamically.

"Very expressive!"

"Complex, with a savory, spicy character, showing tobacco, salty plums, olives, black cherries, cassis and a hint of white pepper on the nose, followed by a refined, balsamic accent. A full-bodied Seña, with juicy fruit chiseled by tight, extremely fine tannins. Long, bright and elegant in this warm vintage. A wine with lots of harmony now, but best drunk from 2025." (James Suckling 2022) - Ranked 98th out of 100 of the world's best wines tasted in 2022 by James Suckling - Delivery in wooden case possible for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected)

Seña 2013

"Superb aromas of cassis, rose petals and mint, as well as lavender and rocks. Full-bodied with incredible fruit density. Complex yet agile and lively. Perfectly integrated tannins. Develops on the palate and shows the structure of a Bordeaux premier cru, while retaining a Chilean identity. A blend of biodynamically grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. It's a real pleasure to taste it now, but it'll be at its peak in 2019. Even better than the incredible 2012." (James Suckling 2015) Delivery in wooden case for orders delivered in France of 6 bottles of this wine.

16,5/20 Jancis Robinson

"A phenomenal red with aromas of blackberry, licorice, sandalwood and warm stones that develop into notes of cigar box and tea. Full-bodied, with incredible complexity and concentration, there's also agility and playfulness in this wine. Long, fascinating and balanced. It speaks to you. The best Sena ever (oenologist and owner agree). There's a wonderful purity and elegance here. Made from biodynamically grown grapes." (James Suckling 2014)
