Almaviva

Almaviva
Visit Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and Eduardo Guilisasti Taglein 1997, gave birth to Almaviva Estatewith the aim of creating a exceptional French-Chilean wine.

The union of Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro SA brought the "Château à la française" concept to Chile for the first time, and represented a key step in the growth of Chilean wines on the world market.

Today, the Almaviva estate covers 60 hectares of vines, combining grape varieties typical of Bordeaux wines and Chilean terroir. These include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Situated in the heart of the Maipo Valley and the Puente Alto terroir, the vineyard offers a high quality Cabernet Sauvignon due to its favorable climate. As a result, this grape variety always predominates in allAlmaviva vintages.

The wine is aged in barrels for 10 months in a first cellar, then transferred to a second cellar for a further 6-8 months before bottling.

"Fresh, deep nose, full of blueberries, minty cassis, mussels, cigars, dark spices and toasted sesame oak. It will need a year or two to fully integrate. A medium- to full-bodied Almaviva with supple, silky tannins and a richness of black and blue fruits that give it great charm now. Voluptuous and flattering on the palate, it stands out for its tension and taut texture. Very long."
