The modern 2019 Real de Asúa has been produced since 2018 with grapes from the village of Villalba called Carromaza [...] The wine is very impressive, clean and harmonious, with no noticeable woodiness, juicy, young, fresh, and elegant. It has concentration, power, and finesse. It unveils a new label, a new bottle, and a much more modern image, but with the essence of the past. The wine has improved greatly, it has grip and very fine tannins. Very impressive. It has the essence of Rioja without the layers and layers of oak, now coming from a single vineyard where the aim is freshness and a lush, but floral and delicate profile that should be drunk effortlessly. Superb. 2023-2033" (Wine Advocate 2022) - Wooden case delivery available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on country and shipping method selected)

About wine:
According to Victor Urrutia, CEO of CVNE and member of the fifth generation of the family, this is a "more modern" wine produced by this well-established Spanish winery. It comes from a 2.5-hectare plot of 30-year-old Tempranillo grapes called Carromaza, located in the village of Villalba. A magnificent bouquet on the nose, with a soft and juicy core of black and red cherries, raspberries, licorice, toasted caramel, and cloves, all supported by chalky tannins that give a pleasant minerality on the palate. The wine is lively and dynamic, with well-defined fruit and a sculpted structure. Excellent overall freshness, young and energetic. 2026-2042

About wine:
The modern 2019 Real de Asúa has been produced since 2018 with grapes from the village of Villalba called Carromaza (now mentioned on the label) on sandy, south-facing soils that were harvested between October 8 and 9. 2019 was a low-yield year with loose, small bunches that ripened deeply, delivering balanced wines with aging potential. It has 14.5% alcohol and presents soft acidity, good freshness, and good balance. The wine is very impressive, clean and harmonious, with no noticeable oak, juicy, young, fresh, and elegant. It has concentration, power, and finesse. It unveils a new label, a new bottle, and a much more modern image, but with the essence of the past. The wine has improved greatly, with grip and very fine tannins. Very impressive. It has the essence of Rioja without the layers and layers of oak, now coming from a single vineyard where the aim is freshness and a lush but floral and delicate profile that should be effortless to drink. Superb. 2023-2033

About wine:
A full-bodied, ripe, and delicious red with firm, slightly chewy tannins. Lots of cherries, dried flowers, coconut, and rosemary. Lavender and white roses, too. Firm and very well structured. Taut and fresh on the finish. First year with a single vineyard on the label. 100% Tempranillo. Try after 2025.
