"Introduction to the Aszú wines of Oremus, a 3 puttonyos made in the purest tradition and judged very gastronomic by James Suckling!"

"Attractive aromas of dried apricot, dried mango, ripe starfruit, walnut, melon skin and crème brûlée. Medium-bodied, fresh and crisp, with medium sweetness that's almost invisible behind the lively acidity and chalky minerality. Delicious fruit. Very gastronomic. Drink and enjoy now. Manual

Winemaking

Parcel selection, gentle pressing to obtain a high-density must, fermentation in new Hungarian wood barrels (100%) for up to 4 weeks.

Production method

This meticulous process is only possible in exceptional vintages and under conditions that favor Botrytis in the berries (the same process has been used for hundreds of years). Aszù corresponding to dried berries & "puttonyos" meaning "basket", the number before it, here "3", indicating the quantity of 25kg baskets of botrytized grapes added to a 136L "Gönc" barrel of must (unfermented grape juice) - so the higher the number, the higher the sugar content of your Tokaji!

Breeding

For 2 years in 136L and 200L barrels, then matured in bottles for a further 1 year.

Alcohol content

12%

Residual sugars

125 g/l

Jancis Robinson

Wine rated (guide 2023) 16.5/20

About the wine:

Pale straw. Rich and apricot with a satiny texture. Still the same floral note as the Late Harvest 2021, but not quite the biz Tokay! Halfway between Late Harvest and the 5 Puttonyos 2023-2030.
