Petrolo
The estate Petrolo was acquired in the 40s by the Bazzocchi family, who have followed the tradition of carefully producing high-quality wines with total commitment. The peculiarities of this region add to its value; the land of PetroloHere, vineyards, olive groves and forests coexist side by side, forming a rich ecosystem with the soil that perfectly balances the different grape varieties.

The Petrolo vineyard covers 31 ha, of which 26 ha are in production. At an altitude of between 250 and 450 meters, the vines grow on moderately loose soil with rocky stratifications of limestone, sand, argillite and schist typical of Chianti. Soil composition, altitude and exposure are among the key factors in producing wines of distinctive character.

"The critics are raving about this Italian Merlot, which is considered fantastic, harmonious and unbeatable!"

"Galatrona 2021 is a rich, deep and expansive wine with remarkable depth of texture and structure. Black fruits, sage, lavender, mocha and roasted herbs are all amplified in this powerful Merlot. Readers will need to be patient, as this wine will need a number of years to reach its peak. A complex and dynamic Galatrona, the 2021 is simply superb." (Vinous 2024)
