Walk
Marche (Les Marches in French) is a wine-growing region located in central Italy, on the eastern coast of the Apennines, along the Adriatic to the south of Emilia-Romagna and to the north of Abruzzo. The main production areas for Marche wines are inland, in areas sheltered by mountains.

The Marche climate, strongly influenced by its proximity to the warm Adriatic Sea, is mild and perfectly suited to viticulture. The main grape varieties used for Marche wines are Verdicchio for white wines and Sangiovese and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo for red wines. Other accessory varieties are sometimes used, such as Bianchello, Trebbiano and Vernaccia di Serrapetrona.

The Marche region boasts 11 DOCs (Denominazione di Origine Controllata). The most important of these are the two Verdicchio appellations: Verdicchio di Jesi and Verdicchio di Matelica. Red wines include Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno. The region has acquired a growing reputation for the quality of its wines in recent years, in the wake of modernization of both vineyard management and winemaking. The wines offered by Domaine Boccadigabbia are a convincing demonstration of this.

Made from Sangiovese grapes, this very fine Marche is an elegant wine with typical saltapicchio aromas. A rich Italian red with velvety tannins, highly representative of its clay terroir. A pleasure to drink!

"Akronte 2000 is the best since the 1990 vintage, and easily measures up to the most famous Cabernets of central Italy, with its concentrated fruit and mineral aromas, powerful and solid structure, continuity, length and intensity." (The Wine Advocate - Robert Parker)

"Merlot Pix 2007 explodes with fruit on the palate. It's a sumptuous red, full of class and elegance. Medium-bodied, Pix shows remarkable depth and fruit integrity. It's a very interesting Merlot with personality, which represents well the viticulture of the Marche appellation." (The Wine Advocate June 2011 - Robert Parker)
