Jean Macle Estate
Domaine Jean Macle was founded in 1850 and is located in Château-Chalon in the Jura region. Laurent Macle has been at the helm of the estate since 1995. Domaine Jean Macle has 12 hectares of vines, including 8 planted with Chardonnay in AOC Côtes du Jura and 4 planted with Savagnin in AOC Château-Chalon.

Domaine Jean Macle 's vines are grown without insecticides, pesticides or systemic products. After alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in vats, the wines are aged in oak barrels under a yeast veil. The work of the Macle family at Domaine Jean Macle has resulted in a Château-Chalon yellow wine of great purity, which can be kept for an exceptionally long time, to the great satisfaction of the wine-lover.

"Powerful, deep Chardonnay

Deep, this 2018 Chardonnay Sous Voile offers notes of walnut and hazelnut, accompanied by pretty aromas of candied fruit. Powerful and concentrated, there's also a touch of curry on the palate.

"Jura in all its splendour

Made from 80% Chardonnay and 20% Savagnin, Macle's Côtes du Jura Tradition has a precise nose, reminiscent of yellow wine with its nutty, slightly peaty notes. The palate is full-bodied, with a lovely acidic structure. - Limited quantities available!

"A beautifully crafted Château-Chalon!

"[...] The 2015 Château Chalon is rounder and softer than the 2013; they harvested healthy grapes and everything was straightforward. It can of course be enjoyed now, but it's better to keep the bottles (they say six years in barrel plus six years in bottle to consider drinking it...), and it will keep for a long, long time. Only 4,000 bottles produced. Since 2011, all harvests have been quite low, so there are very few bottles..." (Wine Advocate 2023). - Attention, very limited quantities!

"The Macvin, too, is a brilliant archetype, with a patinated finish that naturally takes over from the fruity, candied, acidic greed that electrifies the mid-palate." (Le Guide RVF 2022)

"A traditional blend of chardonnay and a little savagnin, this is a wine that's already open with a nose of morel mushrooms and sweet curry, tender and fleshy on the palate with a long finish. A great success". (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve)

"A well-born Château-Chalon, already easy to approach young with its full, fat character, less lively than the 2002 but with the same phenomenal length. It can be drunk young but will age admirably". (Le Grand Guide des Vins de France 2011 - Bettane & Desseauve)
