"Very high expression of Mauzac!"

"A domaine in top form, as every year. The prize this time goes to its M Le Mauzac 2016, aged for a long time in the cellar. The result is a delicate bubble and a subtle nose of citrus tinged with dried fruit and a hint of minerality. A silky entry on the palate, a caressing texture, a light roundness, a long persistence of fruit: everything here is fine and tasteful." (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2022)

Bettane & Desseauve

Bettane & Desseauve

Domaine rated (guide 2024) 2*Stars (A serious and recommendable production, but a little more regular and homogeneous than the previous one)

About the domain :

Françoise Antech-Gazeau is the masterful head of this successful trading house, which has made sparkling wines its specialty for six generations. Nearly a million bottles are produced each year. A wide range of very consistent, high-quality wines, with a clear focus on purity, minerality and balanced freshness. The mauzac-based cuvée M30 impressed us with its formidable aperitif capacity.

About the domain :

A vineyard owner, a family business for six generations, now run by Françoise Antech, following in the footsteps of her father Georges and uncle Roger. A sure bet, specializing in Limoux bubbles.

Rated 90/100

About the wine:

A floral, ripe-fruit fragrance on the nose. Yellow fruit on the palate for this tender, well-balanced blanquette. The bubbles are lively and creamy.

About the wine:

Orchard fruit and freshly dried hay form the bouquet of this pale golden cuvée, with a touch of ginger pie crust in the background. The palate offers appealing flavors of just-ripe orchard fruit and citrus, such as slices of apple, pear, tangelo and Meyer lemon, all blending into a cohesive mix. Moderate mousse and generous acidity keep it fresh and vibrant through to the finish.

Light yellow, fine bubbles. Very discreet nose, but pleasant. Quite ripe on the palate, I like it a lot, even if it's a bit short.
